What Semi Permanent Hair Colour Is Available From Clairol?

Clairol Semi Permanent Hair ColourIn 1931, a US company found a colour product in France called Clairol and began to market this to the US. Since then Clairol has developed its products extensively and remains one of the global market leaders in hair colours.

Clairol have offered colour products in a number of ranges in the past, including Loving Care and Herbal Essences.  Although Clairol has discontinued these products, they are still available online through a number of UK sites.

Clairol Semi Permanent Hair Colour Options

Clairol Nice ‘n Easy is the range that has replaced Loving Care. In many UK stores, Clairol Nice ‘n Easy is only available as a permanent colour, but non-permanent solutions are available in some stores, including Amazon UK. The non-permanent products are also available internationally.

The full product range for Clairol Nice ‘n Easy is

  • Permanent hair colour
  • Non-permanent hair colour that lasts up to 24 washes (semi permanent)
  • Non-permanent that last up to 8 washes (temporary)

Because the packaging of Nice ‘n Easy is similar, it is very important to check carefully before purchase. If it says non-permanent on the front then do check whether it lasts up to 6 or 24 washes.

Clairol Semi Permanent Hair Colour – More Info And Tips

Clairol Nice ‘n Easy non-permanent is designed to cover early greys and enhance the natural colour of the hair. It lasts for up to 24 washes and has a development time of 15 minutes. It is also a non-drip formula and does not contain any ammonia. Products without ammonia do not dry hair out as much during the colouring process. There is also a very low concentration of peroxide in Nice ‘n Easy non-permanent, preventing the natural hair colour from being lightened.

As with all hair colourants, a sensitivity test is required before use and Clairol also recommend carrying out a strand test. To carry out the sensitivity test, mix a small sample of the crème colourant with developing lotion. Using a cotton bud, apply to the skin behind the ear and leave for 48 hours. If no itching, swelling or redness occurs, then the product is safe to use. For a strand test, add the sample to a small strand of snipped hair.

Clairol also market another semi permanent product internationally, called Clairol Natural Instincts. The Natural Instincts hair colours include substances called antioxidants that are important for protecting the hair. Antioxidants, such as vitamin B6, come from food and they protect body cells against molecules called free radicals. Exposure to free radicals occurs from the breakdown of products in the body as well as external exposures such as cigarette smoke and UV.

How Clairol Semi Pemanent Hair Colour “Natural Instincts” Works:
